Thanks for your insights. The Read-to-Write ratio is an interesting metric, but it may be somewhat easy to manipulate by visiting pages and scrolling without reading. Nevertheless, extensive reading is essential to achieving maturity as a writer.

Horror maestro Stephen King said the following in his memoir “On Writing”:

Can I be blunt on this subject? If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.

The Writer's Quotation Book (1985) compiled by James Charlton ascribed the following remark to William Faulkner:

Read, read, read. Read everything—trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You'll absorb it. Then write. If it is good, you'll find out. If it's not, throw it out the window.
